I'm Sophia Liau, a motivated biomedical engineering student at the University of British Columbia. Currently in my third year, I intend on pursuing the bioinformatics stream, with a particular interest in the impacts of machine learning within our field. Furthermore, I am also completing a minor in commerce through UBC Sauder. I’m excited to grow intellectually within the following few years of my degree.
As a student in the Applied Science CO-OP program, I’m also passionate about leveraging my skills to contribute to innovative projects and foster inclusive, positive environments. I thrive in collaborative settings and am dedicated to continuous learning.
I grew up in Saskatchewan, coming from a childhood filled with competitive dance and other academic extra-curriculars. Nowadays, I enjoy hot pilates (I recommend Jaybird) and hosting friends! I am also the current social coordinator for the Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Association.
